Welcome to the The Sweet List— your curated guide to community-led NYC events you'd never find on your own.

Every event is vetted by us, and you can personalize the list by your social battery, neighborhoods, and interests so you only see what actually fits your vibe.

What’s New?

The Sweet List is now completely FREE — every feature, every filter, every event. No catch.

Why free?

After months of testing with a small group, we realized the app gets better when more of the right people are using it.

So instead of gating it, we're opening it up because we're building toward something bigger.

As you may have heard we're launching Community Week NYC in May: a full week of community-led events across NYC.

The Sweet List is how we're bringing everyone together for it. The more people on the app, the better Community Week will be.

So our very first Community Week NYC informational was a HUGE success!

Just about 100 of you came out with nearly 60 different individual communities represented and it was truly a night not just focused on the upcoming week itself but a night of discovery for each other.

Everyone had a chance to fan out into the room in smaller groups and learn more about other communities, exchange details and get involved which in and of itself was a microcosm of the very spirit Community Week NYC seeks to create.

As we approach May, we anticipate more communities signing up (50+ so far and rising) and I’m so excited for our next event on Apr. 9th in which we’ll be inviting some of our more established communities to speak on their own experience building community to serve as an inspiration for those in attendance.

Definitely stay tuned for more info on that soon!

NYC Community Week is happening May 9th - 17th. If this resonates with you, there are three ways to help:

Donate: Even small contributions add fuel to a fire that's already burning. Link HERE.

If you run a community or gathering of any kind and want to host an event under the Community Week banner, we want to hear from you. You can apply by viewing the one-pager below:

If you work with a brand that cares about showing up for real people (not just impressions), we have sponsorship opportunities that actually make sense. The sponsor deck, which includes the full picture, is below.

And if you know someone—a friend, a colleague, a favorite local organizer—who should be part of this, please send this email their way. That's literally how community works.

This isn't another event calendar. It's the first citywide proof of concept that when New Yorkers gather with intention, something extraordinary happens.

Emily in-trospection ;-)

A penny for your thoughts?  Or perhaps maybe just a pencil would suffice.

Emily Chertow first hosted a Journaling Classes workshop in August 2018, when she was new to NYC and looking to create the kind of space she herself needed, one rooted in connection, reflection, and care.

Journaling had already been a powerful personal tool for her, and combining it with her passion for bringing people together and advocating for mental health felt both like a natural progression.

Over the years, what started as a simple gathering in Washington Square Park has grown into something far more meaningful a thriving, heart-centered community.

The pandemic was the impetus that really kicked things into the next gear for this passion project and what was a serious hobby became a full-time venture at a time when virtual workshops became a lifeline for connection.

To date, Emily has guided more than 30,000 people through her work, collaborating with brands and organizations and even expanding upon her creative spectrum hosting everything from adult talent shows to flower therapy pop-ups and cohort-based learning experiences. At the end of the day, everything Emily builds is rooted in play, creativity, and joy.

I highly recommend you check it all out if you’re seeking introspective inspiration through personal prose or creative play and expression.
