We are less than a month away from the first ever community week in New York City!!!
And with that in mind, I'm pleased to share our new calendar of events so you can check out a preview of what is happening during that week. CLICK HERE
You'll notice that in addition to all the events that each participating community is hosting, we're building out robust programming to complement everything else that's going on so that there's even more to explore and experience during the week.Â
So feel free to take a look and check back regularly, as we will be continuously adding events as we finalize them or as communities themselves submit their event for the week.Â

NYC Community Week is happening May 9th to 17th. And if you know someone, a friend, a colleague, a favorite local organizer, who should be part of this, please send this email their way. That's literally how community works.
Along with our new poster, we now have an official Community Week NYC Instagram page and a fresh logo to match.
Give us a follow at @communityweek.nyc and that's where we'll be announcing new communities joining the lineup, upcoming events and all the latest news as we build toward May. It's the best way to stay in the loop and watch this thing come together in real time.
This isn't another event calendar. It's the first citywide proof of concept that when New Yorkers gather with intention, something extraordinary happens.

A real âhands onâ experienceâĻ
The best ideas are usually simple. So it should come as no surprise that a creative community based on making things with your hands has become a welcoming home for people across New York City who want to gather, create, and explore their curiosity without needing to be an expert first.
That's exactly what Brooklyn-based Make Space seeks to do.
The monthly in-person gatherings, span all manner of arts and crafts (i.e. knitting, crochet, watercolor, craft leather, tuft rugs etcâĻ) and is beginner-friendly, low-pressure, and rooted in the belief that creativity does not have to be polished or productive to be worthwhile.
Thatâs the secret sauce of Make Space, its spirit. There's a gentler vibe in the air to simply just enjoy the act of making.
That philosophy is deeply connected to its founder, Urechi Oguguo, an experience designer by trade with a background in architecture. Over the years, her professional work began circling back to the same question: what becomes possible when people are given the time, permission, and space to slow down and create with their hands again?
That question ultimately led to the creation of Make Space as it exists today.
More than just a creative meetup, Make Space is an invitation to return to something many people have lost touch with. It encourages people to reconnect with their hands, their bodies, and one another through the simple, grounding act of creating. In that way, Make Space is not only about art or craft. It is about protecting a way of being more present, more curious, and more human in everyday life.
